Oh dear, lots to update with - sorry for the delay!
For starters, a little over a month ago our house was struck by lightning. It fried some of our computer parts, cable modem. our TV, our housemates' Xbox, etc. We got things back up and running in the last week and somehow I've just forgotten to post here!
I've started school this week, that's quite the big deal for me. I've been putting off going back to school for so long, what with the finance situation and the lack-of-a-solid-major situation til now. I'm in CNA classes, then I'm not sure what I'll follow with in the spring. Maybe LPN courses, maybe general courses to get a jump start on the R.N. program since that's what I want to do. I should have stuck with nursing - it's what I started with when I first started college in 2002. So far, the class is great, but very tiring. There's a lot of homework, it's very intense. We cover at least 4 chapters a day at a quick pace, plus I'm working nearly full-time still. Needless to say, my sleep is lacking. But I had a nice nap today before my friend Bonnie from class came over to study together this afternoon, and I've been locked in my books ever since.
There's a lady in my class who appears to have some physical and mental challenges. She tends to shake every so often, though she's only going as far as CNA so that shouldn't hinder her too badly in her career. RNs and LPNs need extremely steady hands and stable balance. She's really sweet and all, and she asked me on the first day after class if she could borrow my notes. Thinking she was going to write them out herself, I quickly agreed.
Today, she gets my notes for the first couple of chapters. After telling her that I haven't finished the ones for the next 8 chapters or so, she says "Alright, if it's okay I'll pick them up from you Monday after class." Here's the thing: she's PHOTOCOPYING them. It's taking me literally HOURS to write out these notes (approximately 4 pages per chapter - you do the math!) and she's wanting to photocopy them and not even do the work herself??? How do I keep from being taken advantage of without seeming like a jerk?
Oy. -sigh-
Hope you're all doing wonderfully, I'm pooped so I'm heading to bed. Sweet dreams!
