I still can't figure out how to change my timezone...it's so weird! I'm excited about the potential this site could create ( ha ha, yes, I'm a nerd for computer stuff). I made a beautiful header that I can't wait to use this afternoon. Now I just need to figure out how to use it! :)
Macy (our three month old puppy) is still making us crazy. Nestie Sarah is right, I need to have more patience with her. But it's hard when you don't have a fenced in yard for her to play in, and have to take her out on a leash, and she's, well, 3 months old and wants to sniff/eat absolutely EVERYTHING. Then, if you're lucky, maybe she'll potty. *sigh* Too much information? Probably!
I've only been in North Carolina now for about 7 months, and I'm still getting used to the differences between the North and the South. I didn't realize I would automatically be hated by some people automatically, just for being a "Yankee". It's true, no matter how much other Southerners will protest it, you get treated differently sometimes. I had customers at the restaurant where I just left, that once they found out I was a Northerner, would either mock me to my face, or find some snippy way to treat me badly - whether from a terrible/no tip, or snide comments/looks. It was awful. I wonder if Southerners get treated badly in places up north - if so, I've been completely blind to it.
That isn't to say that everyone is that way, just a select bunch. But it's enough to somewhat sour my taste for the hopes I had for this region. It's an entirely different world, as cliched as that may sound. For example, many homeowners are completely against the idea of housing editions. You'll scarcely find one around. Cemeteries, as well - there are more people buried in random places around here than I could ever imagine. It's like they're completely anti-establishment whatsoever. I suppose that's understandable, given the history, and I'm not saying it's a bad or wrong thing. It's just interesting.
That said, I do miss my home state terribly. I will always consider myself a Hoosier, no matter where I go, and Westfield/Carmel/Indy are my hometowns. It's funny, when I was growing up, I always said I'd move away as far as I could get; then when I actually do so, it feels rotten and I want Indiana back. Guess you can never take the Hoosier out of the girl.

Just found this through your xanga - how cute :) - I"m so sorry that southerners are treating you badly - I have seen them be awful to northerners though - sorry for that - it so sucks! - we're not all like that I assure you :) - all the times I've been up north I've had mixed reactions - some nice people and some really awful people - they always make fun of the way I talk and I just can't get used to not waving and saying hello to everyone you meet lol
that last comment (and this one of course LOL) is from me :) Melissa from xanga - (joshs_lissa_girl)
